Unsupervised Learning
Training a model on unlabelled data and letting it find structure by itself — grouping similar customers, say, without being told what the groups are.
Related terms
robots.txt
A plain text file at the root of a site listing which bots may read what. It is a request rather than a lock — well-behaved crawlers obey it, and all the major AI crawlers do.
Applebot-Extended
Apple’s equivalent, governing whether your content feeds Apple Intelligence. Ordinary Applebot, which powers Siri and Spotlight, is controlled separately.
Microdata
An older way of marking up facts, written as attributes on the HTML itself rather than in a separate block. Still understood, but JSON-LD is now the safer choice.
GPTBot
OpenAI’s crawler for building its index. Blocking it in robots.txt keeps your content out of that index — and out of the answers built from it.
Multimodal
An AI that handles more than one kind of input — text and images together, say, or audio and video. It is why you can now photograph a menu and ask an assistant what is in a dish.
AI Referral Traffic
Visitors who arrive from an AI assistant rather than a search engine. Usually small in number and unusually well-qualified, because they clicked after reading a recommendation.
