What are the benefits of having an SSL certificate?
Our website hosting service offers free SSL certificates, which means that having SSL on your website ensures that any data provided by site visitors is encrypted during transmission and decrypted on your end, providing protection throughout the process. This prevents hackers and other malicious entities from accessing sensitive customer information. That’s why SSL is so popular.

cPanel is a web-based control panel for managing your own site: email accounts, files, backups, FTP, databases, web statistics and more. If you would rather not touch it at all, our managed plans mean you never have to.
What exactly is cPanel and why is it essential for me?

What is a domain name?
A domain name is the address you enter into your web browser to access a particular website, such as AngkorDesign.com. By typing “AngkorDesign.com” into your browser, you will be directed to our home page. Domain names are restricted to letters and numbers only, with no special characters or spaces permitted.
There is a wide range of domain name endings available for registration.
The most popular domain name extensions are as follows:
- .com: This is the ideal choice for business websites.
- .net: While not as preferred as .com, it is still a reasonable alternative.
- .org: Although commonly used by non-profits, .org domains can be used for any purpose and are a good alternative to .com.
- .info: Technically similar to .com and .net, .info domains are sometimes associated with spam. Therefore, it is better to choose .net or .com.
- .com.kh: The domain extensions “.kh” and “.ខ្មែរ” are the highest level in Cambodia’s national domain name hierarchy, representing the identity of the Kingdom of Cambodia on the Internet.

What is a Top-Level Domain?
A Top-Level Domain (TLD) is the highest level in the domain name hierarchy.
For instance, in the case of Cambodia, the domains “.kh” and “.ខ្មែរ” represent the highest level in the country’s domain name hierarchy. These domains serve as the online identity for the Kingdom of Cambodia.

What is the expected duration for my domain transfer?
Typically, domain transfers are completed within 5-7 days once your current registrar has given their approval. The timeframe may vary depending on the extension.

Where are your servers located?
In a Singapore data centre.
Singapore is the closest major hosting hub to Cambodia, so pages load quickly for visitors here and across the region — noticeably faster than hosting the same site in Europe or the United States.
Why is it essential to have a website for my business?
Even small businesses in Cambodia that primarily serve local customers or operate in physical stores should consider having a website in key cities like Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Kep, Kampot, Sihanoukville, Battambang, and other provinces. This is because the internet has become the primary platform that people turn to when searching for products or services. Having a website not only helps establish brand credibility but also enables businesses to sell their products and services online and stay competitive. In the modern age, creating and maintaining a website is now more affordable and easier than ever. Angkor Design Website Hosting offers a variety of online tools for website development, which are included in our hosting plans.

Why a mobile app is a good idea for your boutique hotel and resort?
Despite the convenience that mobile apps bring, it seems that some hotel owners and managers are still hesitant to invest in them for their business. While many hotels have already made their websites mobile-friendly and have enabled mobile and Facebook booking, only a few have taken advantage of the benefits that come with having a mobile app.
If you’re one of those who are still contemplating whether or not to have a mobile app for your hotel, here are eight reasons why you should consider having one:
- Hotel apps offer a more optimized booking experience
- An app will help you track more guest data
- You can maintain brand awareness for your hotel
- Increase customer service at your property
- Integrate your communication with an app
- Create a more effective guest loyalty program
- Use your app to act as a tour guide
- Adapt to any language

Will the functionality of my application be affected by the latest OS update of a mobile platform?

However, if there are any issues with an app due to programming, it is recommended to contact Angkor Design mobile app & website development and provide a list of the issues. Our team will make necessary changes to the code to fix them for you.

Can you redesign a website or app that already exists?
Yes. A brand-new website, a mobile app, or a redesign of something that is not quite working — all three are normal projects for us.
With a redesign we start the same way we start anything else: by looking at who your users are, what they are trying to do, and where they currently get stuck. That is usually what tells us which parts are worth keeping and which are costing you customers.
Do you design mobile apps as well as websites?
Yes. UI/UX design, website design and mobile app development are all in-house, and the same design team works across them.
That matters if you need both: your app and your website end up sharing one design system and one visual language, instead of looking like two products from two companies.
Do you design the interface before building the website or app?
Yes. We map the user journey, sketch the screens, and build clickable prototypes in Figma so you can see and feel the product before a single line of code is written.
You give feedback, we refine, and only then does a polished design go to the development team. Catching a problem in a prototype costs a conversation; catching it after the build costs a rebuild.
What do I actually receive at the end of a UI/UX project?
Four things:
- Research and user flows showing how people really move through your product
- Wireframes and interactive Figma prototypes you can click through and test early
- A clean, consistent interface that works on every screen size
- A reusable design system your team can keep building on as you grow
The design system matters more than it sounds: it is what stops your tenth page looking nothing like your first.
What does your UI/UX design process look like?
Five stages, in this order:
- User-centred analysis — we study how people actually interact with your product, and what they need from it.
- Wireframes — simple sketches of each screen, so the structure is agreed before anything is styled.
- UI/UX design — the interface and the experience, built around your business and your users.
- Digital prototyping — interactive prototypes that show how the finished product will look and behave.
- Web and app development — the design handed to the build team and turned into the real thing.
You see and approve the work at every stage. Nothing gets built from a design you have not signed off.
Will the design work on phones as well as on desktop?
Yes. Every interface we design is built to work on every screen size, and we build websites to be responsive as standard.
Most people in Cambodia reach a website on a phone first. A design that only works on a laptop is a design most of your customers will never see properly — and responsive layouts also help your search rankings.
After the website design is completed, will you be responsible for maintaining my website?
We offer website maintenance services to all our clients, including ongoing support for the first six months. When you choose our affordable web design services, we provide a personalized maintenance plan that ensures your website is secure, fast, and user-friendly. Our team of experts is equipped to handle everything from small content updates to critical security updates, bug fixing, SSL installation, module configuration, and version upgrades. We believe in building long-term relationships with our customers, and our exceptional maintenance services are key to our success.

Can you help me keep my website content up to date?
Yes, in whichever way suits you.
We run training sessions so you or your staff can edit content from the backend yourself, and we are also happy to make the updates for you. Adding fresh content regularly is one of the more reliable ways to hold your visibility in search engines, so it is worth keeping up either way.
Do you handle software, theme and plugin updates for me?
Yes, on our managed plans. Server upkeep, theme updates and plugin updates are handled on your behalf — there is nothing for you to install or maintain.
This is the part most business owners underestimate. An out-of-date plugin is the most common way a small website gets broken into, and it is the easiest thing in the world to forget about.
How do I get a maintenance plan for my website?
Talk to us and we will build one around your site.
Maintenance plans here are personalised rather than picked off a list — what a five-page brochure site needs is not what a busy online store needs, and charging both the same would mean one of them overpaying. So we look at what your website runs on, what you want covered, and how much you would rather handle yourself, then price it from there.
- Call (+855 15) 996 296 or (+855 12) 985 842
- Email ask [at] angkordesign [dot] com
- Or send a message from the contact page
Quotes are free and there is no obligation. We reply to most messages within an hour.
How do you keep my website secure?
On several fronts at once: hardened servers with account isolation, a free SSL certificate on every hosting account, and critical security updates applied as part of maintenance.
Account isolation means a problem on somebody else's site cannot reach yours. The SSL certificate is the padlock your customers look for in the address bar — and browsers now warn visitors away from sites without one.
How long is support included after my website launches?
Ongoing support is included for the first six months with every website we build.
After that we put a personalised maintenance plan in place. We would rather keep looking after a site for years than hand it over and disappear — long-term relationships are how this studio has worked since 2005.
Is it possible for me to make updates to the website once it’s completed on my own?
It is highly recommended to update your website with fresh content on a regular basis to maintain your online visibility in search engines. At Angkor Design Mobile App & Website Development Services, we offer training sessions to our clients on how to easily edit content on the backend and keep their website up-to-date. We are here to assist you with keeping your website frequently updated.

What happens if my website goes down?
You call us and we fix it. Most questions are answered in under an hour by the same team that runs your server, and you can call us at any time of day.
That is the real advantage of hosting with a local studio rather than a faceless international host: when something goes wrong, there is somebody to talk to.
What is included in your website maintenance plan?
Everything from routine to urgent:
- Small content updates
- Critical security updates
- Bug fixing
- SSL installation
- Module configuration
- Version upgrades
The plan is personalised to your site rather than a fixed package, and it is aimed at keeping your website secure, fast and easy to use.
Why does my website need a maintenance plan?
Because a website is not a thing you finish — it is a thing you run.
The software underneath yours keeps moving whether you touch it or not. Themes and plugins release updates, browsers change, certificates expire. A site left alone for a year is not the same site you launched; it is an older, slower, more exposed version of it.
What a plan actually prevents:
- Break-ins. Out-of-date software is the most common way a small business website gets compromised. Critical security updates, SSL and hardened servers are what close that door.
- Quiet breakage. A payment form that stopped sending, a contact form going to an old inbox, a page that broke after an update — these rarely announce themselves. Your customers just leave.
- Slipping down search results. Search engines favour sites that are secure, fast and updated with fresh content. Neglect shows up in your rankings long before it shows up on the page.
- Expensive emergencies. Fixing a hacked or broken site costs far more than keeping it healthy, and it always happens at the worst possible moment.
The honest version: most of the work on a maintenance plan is invisible, and that is the point. You are paying so that nothing happens — and so there is someone to call on the day something does.
Are your free tools really free, and do I need to sign up?
Free, and no sign-up. No email address, no account, no trial that expires.
There is a rate limit — a few checks a minute per visitor — because each one makes real requests to a real server. That is the only restriction.
If a tool tells you something is wrong and you would rather not fix it yourself, tell us about it and we will look. But nothing about the tools is a funnel: you can use them for years and never speak to us.
Do you record the domains I check with your tools?
The lookup, yes. You, no.
What is stored is what was looked up — the domain, which tool, and what the answer was. What is not stored is your IP address, any session, or anything that ties a lookup to a person.
Some of those lookups appear in the live strip under our home page banner, as proof the tools are used. A domain only reaches that strip after passing a word filter, because a public strip showing whatever a stranger typed into a text box is a defacement waiting to happen. The tools still answer for those domains — it simply does not get printed on our front page.
How can I find out what a website is built with?
Our tech stack checker reads the public HTML and response headers and reports the CMS, framework, page builder, analytics and CDN — around thirty signatures.
Nothing is logged into and nothing is scanned. It is the same information any visitor could read by opening the page source, just read faster and organised.
It also flags something worth knowing about your own site: WordPress publishes its exact version number in the page source unless somebody removes it. Anyone scanning for sites on a version with a known vulnerability can find yours without trying anything. Removing that tag is not security by itself — you still have to apply the update — but there is no reason to advertise which update you have not applied yet.
How do I create an llms.txt file for my website?
Use the llms.txt generator — it reads your site and writes the file for you.
An llms.txt sits at the root of your site and tells an AI assistant which pages are worth reading and how they fit together. Robots.txt says what a crawler may not touch; llms.txt says what is actually worth its time.
The generator reads your sitemap, fetches up to twenty-four of your pages for their titles and descriptions, groups them into sections and hands you a finished file with Copy and Download buttons. Upload it to your site root so it answers at /llms.txt — the same place robots.txt lives.
Read it before you publish it. It is built from your own titles and descriptions, so it inherits whatever is wrong with them. Treat it as a draft that is ninety per cent done.
How fast is my website for visitors in Cambodia?
Most speed tests measure from North America or Western Europe. A site hosted in Texas tests well from Texas and feels slow in Phnom Penh, and the report will not mention it.
Our server location and speed check runs from our own server in Singapore — the closest major hosting hub to Cambodia and where most traffic to this country is routed. It is not a measurement taken in Phnom Penh and does not pretend to be, but it is a far better proxy for your visitors than a test run from Virginia.
It makes three requests in sequence and reports the fastest and the typical response, so you can see whether the server is consistent or struggling. It also reports the size of your HTML separately, because a 400 KB home page is slow everywhere and no amount of moving it closer will fix that.
If your site is slow *and* served from far away, our hosting is in that Singapore data centre.
Is my website accessible to people using a screen reader?
Our accessibility quick check runs twelve automated checks on your page — whether it declares its language, whether images carry alt text, whether headings descend without skipping a level, whether form fields can be labelled, whether links say where they go, and whether pinch zoom has been disabled.
It is not an audit, and passing it does not mean your site is accessible. Automated tools find roughly a third of real accessibility problems. Colour contrast needs the rendered page. Keyboard traps need somebody to press Tab. Whether your alt text is any *good* — as opposed to merely present — needs a person who can see the image.
It is worth running anyway, because most of what fails here fails for everybody. Headings that skip levels confuse search engines. Links that say "click here" tell an assistant nothing it can quote. The overlap between being accessible and being findable is much larger than it looks.
What are security headers, and does my website need them?
They are lines of server configuration that stop entire categories of attack, and they are the cheapest security you can buy: no software, no subscription, no performance cost. Our security headers check grades yours from A to F.
The ones that matter:
- Content-Security-Policy — the difference between an injected script running and being blocked
- Strict-Transport-Security — stops the first visit of the day being made over plain HTTP
- X-Frame-Options or CSP frame-ancestors — stops your pages being loaded invisibly inside another site and clicked through
- X-Content-Type-Options — stops browsers guessing at a file type, which is how an uploaded image gets executed as script
They are also the most commonly skipped, because nothing visibly breaks when they are missing. A site with none of them looks and behaves exactly like a site with all of them, right up until it does not.
What free tools does Angkor Design offer?
Eleven, all free and none of them asking you to sign up:
- Domain search & WHOIS — is a domain free, who holds it, when does it expire
- SSL certificate checker — is the padlock valid, and when does it expire
- DNS checker — what records a domain publishes
- AI readiness check — can ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini read and quote your site
- llms.txt generator — builds the file for you, ready to upload
- Email deliverability — SPF, DKIM, DMARC and MX
- Tech stack checker — what a website is built on
- Security headers — the headers that stop clickjacking and injected script
- Accessibility quick check — twelve checks a screen reader depends on
- Local business readiness — whether an assistant could recommend you in Siem Reap or Phnom Penh
- Server location & speed — where your site is served from, measured from Singapore
Every one of them answers a question a client has actually asked us. They take seconds and there is no reason to charge for them.
Why does my email go to spam?
Nine times out of ten it is one of three DNS records, and our email deliverability check tells you which in about a second.
- SPF lists the servers allowed to send mail as you
- DKIM signs each message so a receiver can prove nothing was altered
- DMARC ties the two together and says what to do when they disagree
Gmail and Yahoo now expect all three from anyone sending in volume. What was best practice for years became the entry requirement, and domains that ignored it are the ones suddenly landing in spam without having changed anything.
The commonest cause of a sudden problem is not a blacklist — it is an SPF record that quietly went over its ten-lookup limit when somebody added one more service to it, at which point receivers treat the whole record as broken.
One honest limit: DKIM selectors cannot be discovered, only guessed. The tool tries fifteen common names, so "not found" means those fifteen did not answer, not that you definitely have no key.
Will an AI assistant recommend my business in Cambodia?
Our local business readiness check tells you what an assistant can and cannot learn about you.
A search for "web designer" is answered from reputation. A search for "web designer in Siem Reap" is answered from *data*: an address, a phone number, opening hours, coordinates, and corroboration that you exist somewhere other than your own website. A site can read beautifully to a person and still be unusable for that second question.
Three things matter more here than in most markets:
- Coordinates. Postal addressing in Cambodia is loose and the same street name recurs across districts. Latitude and longitude remove the ambiguity entirely.
- Messaging apps. Most enquiries here arrive through Telegram, WhatsApp or Messenger. A site offering only a contact form loses business in a way it would not elsewhere.
- Khmer on the page. English-only is a legitimate choice for some businesses and the wrong one for most serving Cambodian customers directly — but it should be a choice.
The check does not cover your Google Business Profile, which is the other half of local search and lives outside your website entirely.
