Hackathon participants collaborating on tech projects in Siem Reap
The vibrant town of Siem Reap recently hosted the Turing Hackathon Cycle 9, bringing together the region’s brightest tech minds. Held at Rose Apple Square on October 26, 2025, this community-focused event showcased Cambodia’s growing tech ecosystem.
Among the participants was Andy Sim, founder of Angkor Design, a website and mobile app development company in Cambodia, and one of the judges in the Turing Hackathon, joining forces with other innovators to create digital solutions for Siem Reap’s future.
The competition was fierce, with 11 teams presenting their solutions to address local needs. After rigorous judging, three teams emerged victorious:
- First Place (4 million Riel): TechSquadso TH impressed judges with their “Eco Tourist” project, designed to bring visitors to the North Sras Srong community, creating new economic opportunities through sustainable tourism.
- Second Place (3 million Riel): Rent Me developed a practical solution to help landlords efficiently manage bill payments for multiple renters, addressing a common pain point in the local rental market.
- Third Place (2 million Riel): Local Grew created an e-commerce platform connecting Siem Reap sellers with buyers in Phnom Penh, helping local businesses reach the capital’s larger market.
The Turing Hackathon, sponsored by WingBank and organized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s Techo Startup Center, continues to play a crucial role in nurturing Cambodia’s growing tech ecosystem. Community partners Mylekha POS and Khmer Coders also contributed to the event’s success.
Events like these demonstrate Cambodia’s commitment to technological innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly in developing solutions to local challenges and creating opportunities for sustainable growth.
